The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a patient-centered, team based multi-specialty practice in central Brooklyn.  BSFHC has been providing affordable, comprehensive, outpatient medical and dental services in an outpatient setting for over 40 years.  As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), BSFHC serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. Our mission is to provide the most professional, courteous and highest quality health care, with dignity, to those we serve, especially the undeserved population, without regard for ability to pay.

We are seeking a Qualified Nutritionist to perform all nutrition-related duties at our WIC Program, including providing and overseeing high risk care to high risk participants, and serving as the local agency’s Nutrition Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  1. Perform all duties of the Nutrition Assistant and Competent Professional Authority (CPA) staff.
  2. Develop and implement high risk care plans and oversee high risk care to all participants.
  3. Provide oversight and guidance to CPA and Nutrition Assistant staff.
  4. Coordinate nutrition education, including breastfeeding promotion and support that is responsive to the identified needs/interests of each high-risk participant.
  5. Refer high-risk participants to other health-related and social services, as necessary.
  6. Track high-risk participants’ progress in improving their health and document for outcomes.
  7. Ensure the efficient flow of the assessment and education processes.
  8. Provide leadership in planning, conducting, and evaluating Participant Centered Nutrition Education services.
  9. Provide leadership and assist in orienting, training and mentoring new local agency staff.
  10. Provide leadership in developing, conducting and evaluating nutrition training for the BSFHC WIC agency staff in nutrition education topics
  11. Staff must complete the 24 hours of continuing education requirements every three years.
  12. Perform any other duties which are relevant to the operation of the WIC Program.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors required

Other Related Skills/Experience:

  • Ability to foster and maintain a positive working relationship in a multidisciplinary team and clients

Salary: $50,000 and based on experience
